Kathleen King, Owner of Tate’s Bake Shop started by baking at home, noted Jessica Chavarria, sales associate who has been working at the bake shop for two and a half to three years. She then created it into what we know today. She also explained how Kathleen is always interacting with the customers. It becomes a little personal shop.
The Aldo coffee and Plain T are new additions that Tate’s Bake Shop is serving. Aldo’s, of Greenport, is organic with fresh-roasted beans. The Plain T that they carry is a refreshing drink that they have in four different flavors: decaf, mango, black tea and rooibus passion fruit.
I got to try Aldo’s regular iced coffee and the decaf Plain T. The iced coffee was perfect. Not too bold and with the right amount of skim milk and splenda, it was the perfect addition to my day. The Plain T was ideal. I can absolutely picture myself, on a beautiful day, going back to get me one of those again. The iced tea was so fresh. I loved that I didn’t have to add any sweetener. Did I mention I got it unsweetened?
Like these new products, Tate’s Bake Shop is launching their new Gluten free line, which started roughly a year ago, said Chavarria. These products include brownies, chocolate chip cookies and peanut butter squares. Where to start? First I dove into the cookies. So crunchy. So delicious. Though they are not the typical gooey cookies, this gives them a different type of presence. They are perfect for when you get that sweet tooth craving.
Next was the ever so chocolaty brownie. I couldn’t even tell it was gluten free and to be honest I don’t think a nutritionist would be able to tell either. These brownies really stood out. They were so moist; and one brownie kept my chocolate craving satisfied.
For those, like myself, who are health conscious, you should try their health cookie. I definitely had no guilt eating these. The ingredients were almond butter, oatmeal, prune puree, pumpkin seeds, sesame seeds, ground flax seeds, dried cranberries and pure maple syrup. If I could create the slogan for this cookie, it’d be ‘it’s not gooey but perfectly chewy!’ It was my favorite of the day for sure.
