I'm So Pumped About Tough Mudder
On November 12 I will be headed out to the Tri-State Raceway to participate in “Tough Mudder” which is a 12 mile “challenge” through brutally tough obstacle courses that include frozen water, mud filled tracks and holes, as well as fire and electric shocks.
No it wasn’t my idea.
I got an e-mail from my long time college friend Paul Bozgo, who is from Long Island and works as a CPA in Manhattan. Paul and I met in college and we used to jog at Northeastern together and became close friends thanks to our shared interest in working out and the rapper Eminem.
Paul convinced me to sign up for Tough Mudder. We signed up for the event in August, back when it was warm, so it was a lot easier for him to convince me to do it.
Tough Mudder raises money for the Wounded Warrior Project, which is a charity that was and still is dramatically supported in the Hamptons thanks to the work of Chris Carney, an Amagansett local that began Soldier Ride where he and a group of wounded soldiers rode their bicycles across the country to raise awareness for charity. Sort of like Forrest Gump but on a bicycle. I have to admit, I’m a little scared of the cold for this event, but I’m really looking forward to it. I feel like this event is something that a lot of people on the East End would be attracted to. There are so many outdoor adventure types out here, and Tough Mudder really seems to have captured that spirit of camaraderie and mental toughness that a lot of us all yearn to have in our lives.
