Wolffer Harvest Party Was Awesome Yesterday
I’m going to make the call right now and say that Wolffer Estate Vineyards in Sagaponack has, hands down, created a celebration in October that is now an official Hamptons tradition.
The Wolffer Estate Vineyards Harvest Party that took place yesterday afternoon was purely magical. There were children running around everywhere, enjoying the clown on stilts making balloon animals, Jim Turner’s live music and scampering through the vineyard fields. Then there were the adults—all smiling, enjoying the fine Tuscan food and, of course, the excellent wine provided for the Harvest Party.
Roman Roth, the German immigrant who is Wolffer Estate Vineyards’ prized winemaker, was dressed in a full festive outfit, hosting the party with a huge smile as well as reffing the “barrel rolling competition,” in which guests rolled a large wine barrel down a hay stack course, competing against one another.
The party has been growing every year, and this time around, with the perfect weather and the buzz about the festivities, it was bigger than ever. Wolffer has established itself as “the thing to do” during Columbus Day weekend in the Hamptons.
The party is another fine example of how the East End and its local businesses are making sure that this is a wonderful place to be year round.
