4 Hamptons Surfers Help Transport Three Rescue Dogs From Puerto Rico
This is a pretty great story. Four guys from East Hampton and Montauk, who I went to high school with and lifeguarded at Main Beach with and who are all insanely good surfers, just got back from a vacation from Puerto Rico and are doing a really nice thing for ARF.
The Animal Rescue Fund of the Hamptons announced today that, with the help of John Robertson and his friends Lee Haessler, Michael Asselin and Ben Dollinger, three dogs will be rescued from Rincón, Puerto Rico. Working with rescue partner Animal Rescue Foundation of Rincón and the four Hamptons surfers, the dogs are in route to the Adoption Center on the East End and will be arriving today at 6 p.m.
While in Puerto Rico, Robertson, Haessler, Asselin and Dollinger offered to help transport special dogs, known as “satos.” These young men are familiar with both ARF Rincón and ARF of the Hamptons and agreed to fly with the canines (a 2-year-old male mix, along with a two-year-old nursing mother and her eight-week-old puppy) to New York and deliver them to the ARF Adoption Center. Once the dogs arrive they will need to be medically cleared by the ARF veterinarian before being put up for adoption.
GO BONAC!
Pics of the dogs coming shortly!
