A 27 year old man from Sag Harbor stole a boat and took it for a joy ride last Friday, only to end up needing a rescue by the U.S. Coast Guard.
The man stole the boat from a marina in Sag Harbor, then ended up lost in Peconic Bay and called the Coast Guard on the boats radio. The Coast Guard responded, saved the man, but then handed him over to the Sag Harbor Village Police Department where he faces criminal charges.
The owner of the boat had to travel to Plum Island in order to get back his vessel.
