Natalie Portman and Johnny Depp Sign Paul McCartney
Hamptons resident Paul McCartney must be pleased with the recent release of his song “My Valentine” being sung in sign language by Johnny Depp and Long Island native Natalie Portman—especially since he directed the stars.
There are three versions of the video—one with Depp, one with Portman and the other with both of them together—shot by cinematographer Wally Pfiste, an Oscar winner.
Vanity Fair Magazine did a story on the video and quoted Paul McCartney explaining that the black-and-white videos were his daughter Stella’s idea. “I would talk to Natalie and Johnny before filming and we would just have a normal conversation. Then we would turn the camera on and there was just a complete transformation. It was like seeing two different people completely — it was like they morphed into screen gods right in front of me.”
The videos were released at a party at Stella McCarthy’s store in West Hollywood that had a wide variety of celebrities in attendance, including Jane Fonda, Gwyneth Paltrow, Chris Martin, Paul’s wife Nancy Shevell, Quincy Jones, Ed Ruscha and Reese Witherspoon
The performances and filming certainly strike an emotional chord. You can watch below.
