DA Office Subpoenas Southampton Town Police Files
Investigators from Suffolk County District Attorney Thomas J. Spota’s office served a subpoena at Southampton Town Hall today to obtain Southampton Town Police Department Records. Investigators were seen leaving Town Hall today with boxes of personnel files that are related to Southampton Town police.
The D.A.’s office is investigating allegations that police records were being destroyed by police officials just before the new Town Police Chief was assigned the position.
Southampton Town Supervisor Anna Throne-Host ordered the files be moved last Spring from the Southampton Town Police Department in Hampton Bays to Southampton Town Hall in light of the allegations which prompted an investigation.
According to a statement from Suffolk County District Attorney’s Government Corruption Bureau, The Town Supervisor and the Town Attorney have been cooperative and accommodating during this ongoing investigation.
