Winners of the 2012 Dan's Papers PotatoHampton 5K
The Dan’s Papers PotatoHampton 5K went off exactly at 9 a.m. this morning amid occasional downpours, wind gusts and cloudy skies. Undaunted, more than 110 runners still took to the streets in Bridgehampton to help raise money for Jordan’s Initiative and be part of a 34-year-old tradition. Runners, organizers and spectators may have been soaking wet but it didn’t dampen anyone’s enthusiasm for this much beloved 5K on the East End.
The top two runners were Richard Temerian of Bridgehampton (for the third year in a row) with a time of 17:27, followed by Jeremy Johnson of New York City with a time of 18:02. The top woman runner was once again Barbara Gubbins of Southampton, with a time of 20:03. Barbara also came in seventh overall.
All runners who pre-registered were entered to win a a bicycle donated by Twin Forks Bicycles, and the lucky recipient was Carl Wittenberg of Water Mill.
