"Decade of Dominance" Premieres in Montauk
Wednesday night at the Surf Lodge in Montauk, champion paddle boarder Jamie Mitchell, the 10x Molokai to Oahu Paddleboard Champion, will be on hand for the East Coast premiere of the movie Decade of Dominance, which chronicles his 10 years of winning the world’s most challenging paddleboard race.
The evening will benefit the East Hampton Ocean Rescue and Surfriders of Eastern Long Island.
“It’s great to be supporting the paddle community in New York,” Mitchell says. “I got a lot of friends out there and I’m looking forward to tonight. I’m out in Montauk at the moment and doing some training. I surfed at Ditch Plains this morning—that’s a cool little spot, there are fun little waves there. Montauk is a lovely place, the weather is beautiful and the water is nice. It’s the first time I’ve been out on this part of the East Coast and I’m really enjoying it.
“The movie is all about paddleboarding and what it takes,” he says of the film. “It also shows the dedication that is required to compete in the Molokai race and the guys that do it. It’s a perspective on paddleboarding that’s never been done before. If you love a sports story and you love paddleboarding, you’ll love this movie.”
