Fundraiser For East Hampton Lifeguard Doris Quigley Is Tonight
East Hampton Town ocean lifeguard Doris Quigley, who suffered a broken neck after diving into the ocean and hitting a sandbar, is in the hearts and minds of many current and former lifeguards in the Hamptons. Doris is still recovering at Stony Brook University Hospital as she battles an injury that has left her with limited movement in her arms and legs.
A BBQ fundraiser originally scheduled for Atlantic Beach tonight to raise money for Doris, who is just 17-years-old, has been moved to East Hampton High School. The fundraiser will take place at 5:30 p.m. and will continue into the evening. Admission is $20.
Doris has been able to move her toes and leg on command, which is an enormously good sign for somebody with an injury like hers, but the road to recovery will be long and difficult.
This girl has a lot of support behind her, including one of the greatest organizations in the world, The East Hampton Town Lifeguards and the East Hampton Village Lifeguards. She’s also got one of the greatest communities in the world behind her, the Hamptons.
If you can’t make the fundraiser but wish to show your support, you can send a donation to to the Hampton Lifeguard Association/Quigley fund and mail it to to John Ryan at 7 Meadow Lane, East Hampton, NY 11937.
