Alec Baldwin to Develop and Produce Show Ideas for NBC
Alec Baldwin is a busy man.
Along with his successful Here’s the Thing podcast, his Capital One advertisements, his philanthropic work, his position as Vice Chairman of the Hamptons International Film Festival, his hit TV show 30 Rock and numerous recent movie roles, the Hamptons resident and actor has signed on to narrate James Cameron’s new climate-change documentary Years of Living Dangerously and, if that wasn’t enough, Baldwin has also entered a two-year contract to develop shows for NBC.
Universal Television, the studio arm of NBC, has hired Baldwin for the next two years to come up with new television show ideas for the network and potentially star in them. Baldwin—who is ending his incredibly successful run as fictional NBC head Jack Donaghy on 30 Rock—will keep working for NBC under the new role starting January 31.
Will Alec Baldwin have the Hamptons in mind when he thinks about new show ideas for NBC? We hope so. After all, it worked for Revenge!
On Years of Living Dangerously, Baldwin joins fellow A-listers Matt Damon and Don Cheadle, who have also agreed to narrate the documentary, which will air over eight episodes on Showtime next year. The premium cable network made the announcement on Monday, December 3, while also noting that Edward Norton is expected to join the cast, according to The Wrap on Monday.
An exclusive November 5 report on The Wrap said Cameron is teaming with producer and noted philanthropist Jerry Weintraub on the project, which will report on first-person accounts of people who’ve been affected by global warming.
