Joey and Marc Wölffer Are the New Owners of Wölffer Estate Vineyards!
Two children of the legendary Christian Wölffer, the founder of Wölffer Estate Vineyards in Sagaponack, are now officially the new owners of Wölffer Estate Vineyards.
Joey Wölffer and Marc Wölffer are half-sister and brother, and have bought Wölffer Estate Vineyards in a joint ownership after buying out their siblings interest and after the estate of Christian Wölffer has finally been figured out since his tragic death in a swimming accident along the Brazilian coast in 2009 at a healthy 70 years old.
After meeting the two today at the vineyard, I think I speak for everybody there when I say I was extremely impressed by the two. Marc Wölffer‘s charm and aura is identical to that of his fathers. He exudes a European charm, has a superior background in business and told me that he looks, “To continue to grow the business of the winery.” His history of running, running businesses is extensive, having managed restaurants in Manhattan and Havana, earning a master’s degree at the Cornell University program in Paris, a degree in Hotel Management at Cesar Titz in Switzerland, and training at the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok and the Grand Hyatt in Hong Kong. He currently has three restaurants, an apartment development in Palma, Spain, and he also owns vineyards in Spain and Argentina.
His half-sister Joey, owns a luxury accessories boutique business called Styleliner, has a degree from Vanderbilt University and is an avid horseback rider. She began her career in jewelry design for Meems LTC, then worked as jewelry designer for Nine West and then later as the Trend Director for all of The Jones Group.
It felt good today at Wölffer. The vineyard is celebrating their 25th anniversary and the winery, year after year, has been growing as a national and international brand in ways like never before. It’s an amazing business story and an amazing family story. The new owners today were nothing else but welcoming, nice, gracious, charming and excited to keep Wölffer as one of the most beautiful vineyards in the world.
