Local Students at Greener Southampton Event
On Saturday April 20, “A Greener Southampton—the Solution is in the Bag” campaign sponsored by Southampton Town Councilwoman Christine Scalera and Councilman Chris Nuzzi, held its second event at King Kullen in Bridgehampton and Stop and Shop in Hampton Bays.
The initiative asks area residents to take a pledge to reduce plastic bag use and instead bring reusable bags for shopping, with the overall goal of eliminating single-use plastic bags from the local environment and landfills. Students from participating schools came out to receive their certificates of appreciation for entering the Plastic Bag Poster Contest, designed to encourage residents to reduce, reuse and recycle. Pictured with Scalera and Nuzzi are Our Lady of the Hamptons students Juliette Kerns, Jessica Gutierrez, and Olivia Tozzi.
