Mala Waldron Playing at Tweeds in Riverhead
Bayside‘s favorite jazz/soul vocalist, pianist and songwriter Mala Waldron is playing at Tweeds in Riverhead from 7-10 p.m.on Friday night. This is Waldron‘s first appearance at Tweeds and she’ll be performing solo, with only a piano and her stellar vocals. There is no cover.
“In honor of tonight’s big beautiful full moon,” Waldron said she’d be belting out her jazzy versions of “Wave” by Jobim and Van Morrison‘s classic “Moondance.”
The musician said she likes Riverhead and has participated in a couple of East End Arts‘ Jazz on the Vine events over the past two seasons. “Of course, I’ve heard a lot about the Tanger Outlets over the years from my shopaholic friends, Waldron added. “Other than that my knowledge of Riverhead consisted of childhood fishing trips there with my stepfather.”
Tweeds is well known for its good food, most notably its buffalo burgers, so it should be a fantastic night of music, eats and tasty libations. Waldron said she’ll probably have the crab cakes. “Maybe they’ll let me do a ‘surf n turf’ kind of a deal, then I could try both,” she suggested, adding, “Suddenly I’m very hungry…”
Tweeds is located at 17 East Main Street in Riverhead. Call 631-208-3151 or visit tweedsrestaurant.com.
