Memorial Day weekend in the Hamptons can be tough to navigate. With so many options, both scheduled and off-the-cuff, it helps to have a few ideas to get you started. Here are just a few of the many activities from this weekend’s regional kickoff of summer.

Friday, May 24
Memorial Day Garden Party
East Hampton
6–8 p.m. (Sale: Saturday 9 a.m.–noon)
If you can remember Tiny Tim’s 1960s song “Tiptoe Through the Tulips,” you might love the outdoor vibe of the Garden Club of East Hampton and their Annual Garden Party on Friday, from 6-8 p.m. This preview party and silent auction at Mulford Farm (10 James Lane) kicks off the club’s annual Plant Sale on Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon. Summerhome Sale
East Hampton
6–9 p.m.
Ever been to a Summerhome benefit? If not, this East Hampton event is something to add to your Memorial Day weekend To-Do list. Sponsored by Nouvelleview, this first-time sale begins with a reception event on Friday from 6–9 p.m. at 19 Lee Avenue. In the spirit of honoring and supporting our soldiers when they return home, a discussion between Bob Woodruff and other guests will take place. Tour a South Fork Vineyard

Operation “Spotted Owl” 5K
Calverton
9 a.m.–1 p.m.
Check out this absolutely unique Adventure 5K run at the former Grumman property in Calverton. Supporting various charities, runners must tackle mud and obstacles to reach the messy finish. Watch or run, all are welcome—ages 8 and up—including families and teams, to join in this day of fun to shake up your Memorial Day weekend. Jazz on the Island Concert
Westhampton Beach

It’s not too late to get tickets to this weekend’s Memorial Day Bash. Jazz on the Island Concert Series launches summer with two dynamite musicians-Alex Bugnon and Matt Marshak –performing in the Oceanbleu Room at The Ocean Resort at Bath & Tennis (231 Dune Road) in Westhampton Beach. Party at the Pink Elephant

If Rihanna partying at Pink Elephant on West 8th Street three Sundays in a row in Manhattan is any indication of what’s to come from the nightlife brand’s East End sister, it’s going to be an amazing summer season. Pink Elephant, one of the Hamptons’ favorite party spots is back for summer 2013 and the club is promising a debauched, star-studded good time. Now located at 44 Three Mile Harbor Road in East Hampton, Pink Elephant will span across 4,000 square feet and includes 1,500 square feet of outdoor space. Relax at the Beach
Southampton and East Hampton
It’s not quite high season suntanning and swimming in the Hamptons, but don’t let a little cold water stop you from visiting your favorite East End beach. The South Fork is home to some of the finest bay and ocean beaches the world over. So bring a blanket, a bottle of wine and a picnic lunch and enjoy what you came here to see. If you can’t hack the water, at least take a walk along the shore. Comedy at the WHBPAC
Westhampton Beach

Go laugh up a storm at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center (76 Main Street) listening to the outrageous jokes of Sex and the City star Mario Cantone on Sunday. This outrageous comedian performs with a band, blending all types of great music with his irreverent jokes. Cantone will delight with musical impressions and music of Liza Minelli and Bruce Springsteen, among others. This is bound to be a sold-out event, so hurry up and go to whbpac.org for tickets. The show starts 8 p.m. on Sunday.
Kosher Barbeque
East Hampton
5:30–8:30 p.m.
The Chabad of East Hampton’s all new Backyard BBQ is the only fully Kosher barbecue in the Hamptons. Memorial Day Parade
