100 Songs of Summer #69 “Steal My Sunshine” by Len

Despite an overwhelming urge to find a more suggestive track for this particular spot in the Hamptons 100 Songs of Summer Countdown, we instead look back to the 1990s and a song about holding onto that special thing that binds us all in the heat of summer.

“Steal My Sunshine” by Len

This 1999 song became a big hit in March of that year, quite possibly due to its ode to the sun and it’s unquestionably “summery” vibe. Off Len’s third album You Can’t Stop the Bum Rush, “Steal My Sunshine” uses a sample from 1976 disco single “More, More, More” by Andrea True Connection and it continually repeats the word “sunshine” throughout. Perhaps that’s why the song so easily meshes with the Hamptons summer weekend. Give it a listen on Saturday and find out for yourself.
