HBO’s “Girls” Films in Greenport

The cast of HBO’s hit series Girls spent the day filming in Greenport on Tuesday, including scenes in the heart of the village.

A host of photos popped up on social media sites during the day, such as shots of the show’s star and creator Lena Dunham (as Hannah Horvath) posing in a green bikini outside The Market Whole Foods, Supplements & Cafe at 44 Front Street. The Girls cast and crew also filmed inside The Market and outside various Greenport mainstays, such as Claudio’s Restaurant.

Executive Producer Ileen Landress told Newsday that the show’s director Jesse Peretz owns a home in Greenport and the episode was set there because it seemed like “a great place to film.” The show has filmed around the North Fork recently, including scenes in East Marion last week.

The Greenport scenes will be used in Season 3 of Girls, which airs on HBO next year.
