Inbee Park Wins U.S. Women’s Open at Sebonack

Southampton belongs to Inbee Park, who earned the 2013 U.S. Women’s Open championship at Sebonack Golf Club on Sunday with a final-round 74 and 8-under 280. With the win, Park, 24, became just the 15th multiple U.S. Women’s Open champ, having also won at Interlachen in Edina, Minnesota, back in 2008 (the youngest winner ever, at 19).

“I just hope this is not a dream,” said Park, who pocketed a cool $585,000 for her weekend of golf in the Hamptons. “I don’t want to wake up tomorrow and play the final round again.”

Following her victories at the Kraft Nabisco Championship and LPGA Championship earlier this year, Park’s feat here in the Hamptons helped her become only the fourth woman (along with Babe Zaharias, Mickey Wright and Pat Bradley) to win three majors in a calendar year. But the milestones don’t stop there. Park is also the first player in the modern era to win three straight major titles to start a season (that’s right—not even Tiger or Jack Nicklaus ever did that), and a win at the British Open in August would make her the first golfer of any gender to capture four professional majors in the same season.
