Sarah Jessica Parker Signs with Manolo Blahnik—Finally
As Carrie Bradshaw on Sex and the City, Sarah Jessica Parker helped make designer Manolo Balhnik a household name, but they had never done any real business together—until now.
The world learned this week that Parker signed with Manolo Blahnik CEO George Malkemus to market her own celebrity accessory line, including shoes, handbags and a few trench coats. Of course, the line will be called “SJP,” after Parker‘s oft-used moniker in the gossip pages.
She described the line’s style in an interview with Vogue as inspired from “great old-school labels like Charles Jourdan and Maud Frizon,” noting she wants to make “something different” in shape, color and cost. SJP will be sold exclusively through Nordstrom starting early next year, and the shoes will be flats and pumps, “pared-back, simple and elegant,” and priced from about $200–$300, Parker told Vogue.
