Stars Come Out for 9th Annual Hamptons Golf Classic
Hampton Hills Golf & Country Club welcomed Hamptonites along with celebrities and professional athletes for the 9th Annual Hamptons Golf Classic, a day-long charity golf tournament, hosted by 2007 U.S. Women’s Open Champion and 16-time LPGA Winner Cristie Kerr on Monday, June 24. The event honored mother-and-son Hamptons real estate power duo Susan and Matthew Breitenbach, and benefited The Diamonds in the Rough Foundation, which provides support to local charities and individuals.
Along with its host and honorees, the charity golf tournament brought out the stars, including Jets linebacker Nick Mangold (pictured above), NBC anchor Jane Hanson, sports broadcaster Ann Liguori and designer Ian Velardi, who was dubbed GQ’s Best New Menswear designer in America. Two-time longest drive champion Carl Wolfer kept participants from beating his longest drive while Mathew Fraas and his team won the overall competition and took home the Hamptons Golf Classic’s coveted trophy.
The daylong event culminated with Zev Norotsky and Hamptons Magazine publisher Debra Halpert presenting a check for $10,000 to Southampton Hospital President Steven M. Bernstein and CEO Robert S. Chaloner for their Ellen Hermanson Breast Center on behalf of The Diamonds In The Rough Foundation and Kerr’s Birdies for Breast Cancer charity.
Past celebrity guests at the Classic have included Kelsey Grammer, Kyle MacLachlan, Russell Simmons, Rudy Giuliani, Billy Crudup, Tommy Hilfiger, Michael Strahan, Anthony Anderson, James Lipton, John Starks, Fat Joe, Rocco DiSpirito, Dhani Jones, Justin Tuck, Chris Duhon, Marc Consuelos, Steven Klein, Lorraine Bracco and Jill Zarin. Former New York Giants wide receiver David Tyree hosted the Hamptons Golf Classic shortly after his legendary Super Bowl XLII helmet catch in the Giants’ win against Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
