Wellness & Health Expo Returns to Sag Harbor
Coming late this July, locally-owned holistic health consulting firm Turtle Shell Health will help host the third annual East End Masters of Health and Wellness Preventative Health and Sustainable Technology Expo. On July 27 and 28, Turtle Shell Health, Slow Food East End and the people at Dodds & Eder will be coming together to showcase the work of a number of the East End community’s best, healthy nonprofits and businesses.
Turtle Shell Health began in 2007 from the combined efforts of two Sag Harbor residents and Sag Harbor Farmer’ Market regulars—health mentor Ana Nieto and web guru Ivo Tomasini. Their efforts through Turtle Shell Health have made information about holistic health and East End health organizations available to the entire community. With two events in Manhattan and on the East End every year, the Turtle Shell Health initiative Masters of Health and Wellness have furthered their goal of making health information more accessible. Showcasing local options for holistic healthcare through these events has successfully aided fledgling holistic and energy businesses in both communities.
Supporters and exhibitors attending the expo this year include Fighting Chance, GMO Free NY, the East End Farmer’s Market Association, Farm-2-Kitchen, Clean Apothicaire, Holly During Acupuncture, Edible East End and The Sag Harbor Express, Naturopathica, SHIMA (Sag Harbor Integrative Medical Associates) and, of course, co-host Slow Food East End. The East Hampton YMCA will also sponsor the event.
A Food Riot VIP Dinner event will be held the evening of July 27 to benefit Slow Food East End, the local chapter of Slow Food USA. Reserved for VIP ticket holders, the event will feature a casual cocktail and dinner party with a keynote speaker and live music.
Host Dodds & Eder are also featured prominently, and their Sag Harbor storefront will once again be the venue of the Masters Expo. The people at Dodds & Eder design and maintain landscapes and interiors, which respond to the needs and desires of their clients. Since opening in 2010, they have given the space and expertise in the landscaping business in order to beautify public spaces in Sag Harbor and to provide a venue for local programs. The parking lot adjacent to their building and the Post Office will serve as exhibitor space during the Masters event.
Masters of Health and Wellness events feature, alongside the exhibitors, chances to pick the brains of professionals. Panel discussions will run both days of the event, twice a day, and have, in the past, included such well-known and regarded wellness professionals as culinary nutritionist Stefanie Sacks and raw-foods proponent Debra Secunda.
Dodds & Eder of Sag Harbor is located at 11 Bridge Street in Sag Harbor, behind the Sag Harbor Post Office. Find more information, updates and contacts at turtleshellhealth.com, slowfoodeastend.org or mastersofhealthandwellness.com.
