East End All-Stars Play Citi Field
The Major League Baseball All-Star game rolls onto Citi Field on Tuesday, where the best in the National League will battle their counterparts in the American League. As a part of the festivities, Citi Field played host to the All-Star Legends & Celebrity Softball Game on Sunday, pitting some of the East End’s most athletic personalities against each other.
The teams were headed by WFAN’s Boomer Esiason and Craig Carton. Esiason has a Hamptons pad and he co-captained the National team with John Franco, who has visited the East End frequently to support son J.J. Franco on the Sag Harbor Whalers from the Hamptons Collegiate Baseball League.
Bernie Williams, a Yankee turned Latin Grammy-nominated jazz musician who performed at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center last year, co-captained with Carton.
Tonight, an All-Star appetizer—the Chevrolet Home Run Derby—takes place at 8 p.m. in Citi Field, and will broadcast nationally on ESPN. Prince Fielder will attempt to defend his crown against a field of promising hopefuls.
