How I'm Preparing My Stomach For Grillhampton and Dan's Taste of Two Forks
This weekend in the Hamptons, foodies are going to be a little spoiled. Friday night is Grillhampton, a chef’s competition where you will be able to sample the food that chef’s in the Hamptons and on the East End create TO COMPETE against one another. In other words, they will be cooking THEIR BEST stuff possible in order to win. We’re talking some damn good eating. DAMN GOOD.
Saturday night is Dan’s Taste of Two Forks and every restaurant on the East End will be offering samples of their food. Their will be local beer, there will be local wine, there will be celebrities, there will be music…if you’ve ever attended this event, then you know how awesome it is.
So my stomach needs to prepare for the food. There is absolutely no way I’m going to be able to resist eating this food. You could argue that now where on the face of the earth are so many highly respected restaurants coming together to bring their best stuff. How can you not indulge a little?
Both yesterday and today I’ve been eating extra light, which is ridiculously hard for a guy like me. I’ve avoided pizza, I’ve been drinking a lot of coffee and water, and my goal is to lose a few pounds BEFORE the event tomorrow, so that I can add on a few pounds hehehehe.
It’s good to stretch out the stomach in order to prepare it for a good meal, so I’ve been pounding water in order to not get the calories, but to ensure that my stomach can handle extra food. I learned this trick while I was on the rowing team in college. We were constantly needing to eat because of the endless exercise, but your stomach can only handle so much food without making you feel tired, so we would pound down water before practice, sweat it out and then feel like we could eat a lot at dinner. If we pounded the water after practice, we’d feel full and kind of feel like we didn’t want to eat. The reverse of this by the way, if you’re looking to eat less, is to NOT drink too much water during the day. A lot of people think that you should drink a lot of water when looking to eat less, this is only true if you drink a lot right before you eat food every time you dine, but if you drink a lot of water throughout the day and don’t eat, all you’re doing is expanding your stomach, and when the water moves out of your stomach (which happens in a matter of hours), you’ll feel really hungry.
Anyway, that’s my plan. Eat light tonight folks, eat light tomorrow morning and at lunch, drink water throughout the day, stop drinking water around 4 p.m., then have your mind blown at Grillhampton on Friday night and Dan’s Taste of Two Forks on Saturday night.
I can’t wait.
