There Is Such Thing as a Free Lunch in Southampton
The Southampton Youth Bureau is proving the old adage wrong—there is such thing as a free lunch, at least for the summer months.
Partnering with Island Harvest, the Youth Bureau is providing free lunches for youth in the greater Southampton Town community at the Flanders Youth Center, in the David Crohan Community Center, 655 Flanders Road, in Flanders.
Any youth under the age of 18 can get a free lunch at the site; no identification or other qualification is required. The Flanders site will be serving free lunches Mondays, Tuesdays and Wednesdays from July 8 to August 28, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. One day each week pizza slices will be served for lunch, and an assortment of sandwiches and fruit will be available the other two days.
In addition to lunch, participants will be able to take a break in the Youth Center which offers games, computers, crafts, videos and other activities. This program is offered through the State of New York’s Summer Food Service Program, an extension of the free and reduced meal program offered during the school year.
