Drivers heading east on County Road 39A experienced major delays in Southampton Monday morning when a motor vehicle accident closed the busy thoroughfare for the second time in less than a week.
This time, a garbage truck and a Hampton Jitney crashed a little after 4:30 a.m. near the intersection of David Whites Lane and County Road 39A. According the Lieutenant Kiernan of the Southampton Town Police Patrol Division, there were no fatalities and one person was airlifted to Stony Brook Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Lt. Kiernan said the Crash on County Road 39A closed the road for slightly more than four hours before reopening for the flow of traffic around 9 a.m.
A separate fatal crash involving a Hampton Jitney and a small SUV closed traffic on County Road 39A in Southampton for much of the day on Thursday, July 25.
