Free Screening Saturday of Rising Seas Doc 'Shored Up'
The Southampton Town Trustees are presenting a free screening Saturday of “Shored Up,” a documentary about coastal communities and their relationship with the land.
“What will a rising sea do to our homes, our businesses, and the survival of our communities?” the film asks. “Can we afford to pile enough sand on our shores to keep the ocean at bay?”
By director Ben Kalina, “Shored Up” was made possible by a 2011 Kickstarter campaign, which more than raised more than $15,000.
The film is relevant now more than ever to the Hamptons, following two straight years of getting struck my major storms — Irene and Sandy — that contributed to beach erosion and demolished some homes.
The showing is at 7 p.m. September 21 in the Southampton High School auditorium, 141 Narrow Lane, Southampton Village.
