Mike Check Creates Mari-Palooza Lineup for Greenport Maritime Festival
The Greenport Maritime Festival just got a little cooler.
For the first, but not the last time, rapper and Greenport native Mike Check is bringing a must-see musical lineup to the annual event. Now, along with the festival’s shopping, nautical arts and crafts, classic wooden boats, children’s activities, pirate shows, local produce and seafood, wines and craft beer, fireworks, tall ships and visits to the Bug Light lighthouse, Check’s “Mari-Palooza” will feature some of New York’s hottest musicians—including Check himself.
“We coined the stage ‘Mari-Palooza,’ Check said, explaining that the Festival’s newest addition will happen on one stage at the foot of Main Street (by Claudio’s Restaurant) from noon to 9 p.m. on Saturday, September 21 and noon to 5 p.m. on Sunday, September 22. “It should be really dope this year and only bigger in the years to come,” the rapper said.
Bands and musicians from all genres will perform, while local radio stations broadcast live and offering contests and giveaways from the event. WBLI radio (106.1 FM) will be at Mari-Palooza on Saturday, and Party 105 radio (105.3 FM) will be there on Sunday.
Day one begins with DJ Dreslay, followed by DB2, HypoDive, JUS Evolution, Chiara Fasi & DJ Lex, DJ FX and finally Mike Check, who is headlining the evening. On Sunday, DJ Dreslay returns to get the day rolling at noon, and he’ll be followed by The Locals and Mariel, before Napoleon tops off the Mari-Palooza lineup.
After the music is over and the streets reopen on Saturday, Check is inviting the public to his Mari-Palooza After Party from 5–9 p.m., with fireworks at 9 p.m. Food and drink vendors will be on hand throughout both days with a variety of delicious eats and libations.
Check said Mari-Palooza is happening thanks to local sponsors—Claudio’s, Southold Fish Market, Lucharitos, North Fork Welding, JSM, Braun Seafood Co., Suki’s Spa, Greenport BID, North Fork Real Estate, Sea Tow, Detailing Inc. and Soundview Restaurant—who came together to fund it all.
The Greenport Maritime Festival benefits the East End Seaport Foundation.
