Christie Brinkley, Matt Lauer Talk 50 Years of SI Swimsuit Issues on 'Today'
Bridgehampton’s Christie Brinkley sat down with Water Mill horse farm owner Matt Lauer this morning on Today to discuss the 50th anniversary of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue.
Among Brinkley’s 500 magazine covers over the course of her career are three consecutive SI Swimsuit Issue covers, from 1979 to 1981. Her first time in the Swimsuit Issue was in 1975. She told Lauer her first picture in the magazine changed her life, and her first cover, even more so.
“When i did my first issue I was still living in Paris and I did a picture from the side in a thong which was so racy at the time,” Brinkley told Lauer. “I still think that thongs are racy. It’s like one thread but I was only posing from the side.”
