Shop 'til You Drop: Vote! For Great Skin
With temperatures so up and down, not to mention the sudden gusts of wind, it’s no wonder my skin has been acting up.
I tried fighting the oil with a strong beta-hydroxy astringent and then tried fighting the dryness with a rich moisturizer. Of course, both were too harsh, and the effects were disastrous. To start fresh, I booked a facial at Geomare Wellness Center, conveniently in Southampton Village, and then decided to try a new skincare line altogether for my at-home daily regimen. I’ve been more than pleased with the results.
I’d seen sebamed products at Rite Aid and CVS before, but it wasn’t until just recently that I tried out the sebamed Cleansing Bar, Moisturizing Face Cream and Age Defense Q10 Firming Body Lotion. The cleansing bar comes at a steal of a price and in a pack of three—so now one sits in the shower, one at the sink and one in my travel pack. It’s amazingly gentle and effective, and my thinking is that a person could easily incorporate this into their beauty routine without tossing away everything else. You could use it exclusively or use it any time your skin wants a vacation from an overabundance of ingredients. I know, you’re thinking what’s the hype over a bar of soap. Well, this bar is actually soap-free, alkali free and has a pH value of 5.5 that’s perfect for even the most sensitive skin. It helps maintain a healthy moisture level while providing natural protection from the elements. It even tones with natural elasticity of your skin. The moisturizing face cream also proved to be an excellent choice. Enriched with antioxidants and Vitamin E, the cream has a 26 percent lipid content, which helps fight wrinkles. With the 5.5 pH value, my sensitive skin soaked it up happily and now looks much healthier. I found my sebamed products at the Rite Aid in Southampton, but check out sebamedUSA.com for more locations.
Another great product I found is the Hydrolyze Instant Under Eye Illuminator. It looks like a pen, and all you have to do is pop off the cap, click, click, click the bottom part and the illuminator comes out the top onto a soft little brush. You dot that under the eye, wherever those dark circles are, and then blend with your fingertip. You can use very little for a hint of brightening, or layer it on for more. This is truly the perfect thing to carry around in your bag to freshen up on the go. Eye fatigue is banished quickly with the unique blend of caffeine and horsechestnut (which stimulate circulation), algae extract (for collagen synthesis), hydrolyzed hyaluronic acid (for those fine lines) and more. So really you’re not just covering up, you’re giving that fragile under eye area an incredible dose of nourishment. Get your own and one for a pal at Ulta.com.
If your hands are feeling especially parched, you’ve got to get them on a tube of Paula’s Choice Clinical Ultra-Rich Soothing Body Butter. I’ve been slathering it on before bed and waking up with lovely, soft and moisturized hands. With zero fragrance, it won’t mess with your perfume or irritate your skin. Now I just need another one for the car. Order online at paulaschoice.com.
