Billy Joel Announces Madison Square Garden Concert Date
Sag Harbor’s Billy Joel, who recently sold out a benefit concert at The Paramount and an upcoming concert at Barclays Center, has booked another New York concert, this one at Madison Square Garden in January.
This will be Joel’s first time back at the Garden since 2006, when he set the record for the longest run of consecutive sold-out shows. He performed for 12 nights.
The concert is scheduled Monday, January 27, at 8 p.m. Tickets are listed for between $64.50 and $124.50 from Madison Square Garden, but on secondary markets some scalpers listed Joel’s New Year’s Eve Barclays concert tickets for as much as $20,000.
Tickets go on sale to the public Saturday, November 23, at 10 a.m. at ticketmaster.com, but Citi cardholders have an exclusive pre-sale opportunity Wednesday, November 20, at 10 a.m.
In December, Joel will be a Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts honoree. On December 8 at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C., Joel and the other honorees will sit with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for performances and tributes by their peers. It will be broadcast on CBS December 29 at 9 p.m.
Joel has won six Grammys, including the Grammy Legend Award, and has been inducted into the Songwriter’s Hall of Fame and the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
