While sticking snow began earlier in the morning for western Suffolk, the rain did not turn to snow on the East End until nearly 10:30 a.m.—and the snow could accumulate between 2 and 4 inches before the day is over.
According to the National Weather Service, snow is expected mostly before 5 p.m. and could get heavy at times. The forecast states that the chance of precipitation is 100 percent and the high temperature will be no more than 37 degrees.
The sky will go from cloudy to clear in the evening with wind between 14 and 18 miles per hour and gusts of up to 28 miles per hour.
Wednesday is expected to be sunny.
