Billy Joel MSG News, in Billy Joel Lyrics
Billy Joel has so many memorable songs and lyrics, it is hard to resist incorporating them into an article when writing about him, such as today’s news that he will be Madison Square Garden’s first artist-in-residence. Here are as many lyrics as we could shoe-horn in to this announcement:
Madison Square Garden has picked today to start the fire! Billy Joel is moving in to The World’s Most Famous Arena, becoming the Garden’s first-ever music franchise. Catch Joel whenever you’re in the mood for a melody, as he’ll be playing one show a month as long as there is demand.

The news is particularly good for angry young men who didn’t secure tickets to the Piano Man’s four previously announced Garden shows on January 27, February 3, March 21 and April 18. The just announced May 9 show is also on Joel’s 65th birthday, proving that you know when the truth is told that you can get what you want or you can just get old.
Joel hasn’t come back to New York for the longest time. His October 16 show in Huntington was his first on Long Island—your special island—in 11 years; and he hasn’t played in the city since 2006. However, before beginning his residency at the Garden, Joel will hold a concert out in Brooklyn on New Year’s Eve at the Barclays Center.
From all of us at Dan’s Papers, thanks for not slowing down, you crazy child. Just don’t go all New Yorker on us and retire to Miami when you’re 71 in 2017.
What else do I have to say?
