Billy Joel Plans First Ever Show at Hollywood Bowl
Believe it or not, Sag Harbor’s Billy Joel has never played at the iconic Hollywood Bowl—but that’s about to change.
Coming on the heels of the announcement that Joel will play at monthly concert at Madison Square Garden as long as there is demand, we learned today that Joel is scheduled to perform at Hollywood Bowl next year on May 17.
Tickets go on sale December 13 at 10 a.m. American Express cardholders have a pre-sale beginning December 9.
For the Madison Square Garden concerts, tickets go on sale Saturday at 10 a.m. for the May 9 and June 21 showdates. The first four shows have sold out.
Back in 2006, Joel set a record for the most consecutive sold out shows at the Garden, with 12 performances. He is now poised to break that record in January 2015 if he stays on pace.
On Sunday at the Kennedy Center Opera House in Washington, D.C., Joel will be a Kennedy Center for the Performing Arts honoree. He
and the other honorees will sit with President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama for performances and tributes by their peers. It will be broadcast on CBS December 29 at 9 p.m.
Also indicating Joel’s notoriety and the enduring popularity of his music, the musical television series Glee dedicated a whole episode to Joel’s music last month.
