"Carries" Sarah Jessica Parker and AnnaSophia Robb Meet at Cosmo Lunch
Hamptonite and former Sex and the City star Sarah Jessica Parker finally met AnnaSophia Robb, the newest actress to play Carrie Bradshaw, at last week’s Cosmopolitan magazine’s Cosmo 100 Power Lunch at Michael’s in Manhattan.
Robb, 20, who is in her second season of playing 17-year-old Bradshaw in the CW’s Sex and the City prequel The Carrie Diaries, had yet to meet her predecessor before last week’s luncheon, though SJP did send her a letter of encouragement when she began the role in January 2013. “She sent me a very lovely note kind of giving me her blessing and encouraging me and saying how dear the part was for her,” Robb told TVLine.com in an interview at the time.
Parker shared a table with Cosmo editor-in-chief and luncheon host Joanna Coles, who invited New York’s most powerful women to the gathering. Other notable Hamptonites included Lauren Bush Lauren, Katie Lee, Barbara Walters, Coles herself and others. According to The Wall Street Journal, the more than 100 ladies dined on Maine lobster Cobb salad with feta cheese and bacon, and either organic salmon with lentils or wild mushroom risotto.
Robb told WSJ that she was excited to meet the original Carrie Bradshaw in person for the first time and wished her mother was in attendance, because she works for a nonprofit and “is all about female empowerment.”
The two Carries posed for photos, including one shot for Cosmopolitan magazine’s Instagram account.
Sarah Jessica Parker played Carrie Bradshaw in six seasons of Sex and the City, from 1998 to 2004, on HBO and two films. You can catch AnnaSophia Robb as a young Bradshaw in The Carrie Diaries, Season 2, Episode 8 on the CW this Friday, December 20 at 8 p.m. Both series are based on books by Hamptonite Candace Bushnell.
