Riverhead Town Opens Warming Center in Aquebogue
With sub-freezing temperatures on the East End today, the town of Riverhead opened up a warming center at the Riverhead Human Resources Center in Aquebogue.
“We will experience frigid temperatures throughout the day with strong gusty winds,” Riverhead Supervisor Sean Walter’s office stated. “Temperatures will hold in the mid-teens with dangerous wind chills. Reduce your time spent outdoors today. Beware of frostbite and hypothermia.”
Riverhead residents are asked to call 911 in the case of am emergency of call the police department ay 631-727-4500 for a non-urgent situation.
“Stay inside, stay warm, stay informed and as always, stay safe,” the supervisor’s office advised, adding that no one should attempt to spend the day or night without heat.
