Lieb Cellars Debuts East Hampton Wine Shop Saturday
Mattituck’s Lieb Cellars will open its third location on Saturday, this one in East Hampton Village.
According to a statement from Lieb Cellars, the new wine shop, which is in addition to the primary tasting room in Mattituck and the second tasting room in Cutchogue, is intended to be a retail flagship that will give the North Fork winery reach on the South Fork.
On top of standard 750 milliliter bottles, the shop will also carry two formats that Lieb is introducing for the first time this year, 3-liter boxes and 20-liter kegs. While the box holds the equivalent of four typical bottles, a keg holds the equivalent of 26 bottles and can be tapped with a standard “party pump.”
The shop will offer complimentary tastings of all the varieties of wine that Lieb produces throughout the year.
“The design of the space was intended to encompass some of the rustic nature of the North Fork where our 84 acres of vines are located as well as the beach house chic of homes on the South Fork,” Lieb Cellars stated. “The retail counter is 200-year old timber rescued from a warehouse in Brooklyn, and the current artwork is of serene South Fork landscapes painted on wood by Southampton resident Eileen Dawn Skretch.”
Lieb Cellars anticipates holding wine education events plus food and wine pairings.
The tasting room, at 26 Park Place inside the Waldbaum’s plaza, will be open seven days a week from noon to 7 p.m.
