Southampton Town Police Warn of Phone Scam

A new phone scam involving a man pretending to be an IRS agent is targeting Southampton residents, the Southampton Town Police Department warns.
According to police, the caller has a foreign accent and identifies himself as John Anderson. “Anderson” tells victims there are several fraud warrants out for them and requests a $10,000 wire transfer.
The scammer uses the phone number 202-239-6960.
The police advice that no one gives out personal information to callers..
