Cops: Contractor Bilked Homeowner Out of $50,000
Southampton Town police arrested a Riverhead contractor on February 12 following a year-long investigation into allegations that he ripped off a Southampton homeowner.
The homeowner accused 32-year-old William Beisler of stealing money through fraud and false promises, according to police. The homeowner hired Beisler, under the auspices of Beisler’s company, W.F. Building 1, to build a garage in May 2012, police said. But after paying nearly $50,000 in down payments, Beisler did no work and never provided any building materials, authorities said.
The situation was first reported to police in January 2013. Detectives investigated and eventually charged Beisler with third-degree grand larceny, a felony.
