North Fork Horseradish Festival Coming April 12
The inaugural North Fork Horseradish Festival is coming up next month, taking place at Hallockville Museum Farm in Riverhead and featuring such events as a horseradish sauce and dip contest and demonstrations.
The festival, on April 12 between 11 a.m. and 5 p.m., celebrates all thing horseradish.
All day, tours of Hallockville will be offered, plus demonstrations of horseradish grinding will be ongoing. From noon to 1 p.m., a lesson will be presented on the history and health benefits of horseradish. Then from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m. a cooking demo is planned. From 3 to 4 p.m., learn how to garden and harvest horseradish.
Besides sauces and dips, festivalgoers can also enter their bloody Mary and horseradish soup recipes. Preregistration is required.
Admission is $20. Food will be sold by various vendors. No pets will be allowed. Tickets, for $20 each, are available at nofohorseradishfest.com.
