Southampton’s Barbara Walters, who is retiring from television on Friday, dropped by Saturday Night Live this past weekend to respond to SNL‘s “tributes” to her over the years and to give Weekend Update co-anchor Cecily Strong some advice.
Walters has been depicted on Saturday Night Live ever since the first season, when she was impersonated by Gilda Radner. She was later portrayed by cast members Cheri Oteri, Nasim Pedrad and Rachel Dratch.
“What an honor it was to see my groundbreaking career in journalism reduced to a cartoon character with a ridiculous voice,” Walters says.
