'Palo Alto' Screens at Sag Harbor Cinema Friday, Saturday
Palo Alto, a film is based on a collection of short stories of the same name by actor James Franco, opens June 6 at Sag Harbor Cinema starring Franco and Emma Roberts.
Directed and written by Gia Coppola, the teen romance centers on Roberts as April, a shy but popular soccer player, and Teddy, an artist portrayed by newcomer Jack Kilmer, son of actor Val Kilmer, who also appears in the film. April’s life is complicated by an affair with her soccer coach, Franco’s character, while Teddy deals with his DUI and reckless best friend, Fred.
The ensemble cast includes Nat Wolff of The Fault in Our Stars, Zoe Levin of The Way, Way Back and Chris Messina of The Mindy Project. Romantic lead Kilmer, son of actor Val Kilmer—who also appears in the film. makes his acting debut.
Palo Alto premiered at the Telluride Film Festival last summer and has since been featured at numerous other screenings, including the Tribeca Film Festival and Venice Film Festival. It opened exclusively in New York and Los Angeles last month and is now in select theaters throughout the country.
