Shop 'til You Drop: Summer Stylin’ in the Hamptons
It’s starting to heat up on the East End—and retail is already sizzling! There are new pop-ups everywhere you turn, and our mainstayers are back in full swing with their summer collections.
This weekend in Southampton, I was able to snag some fabulous mix-and-match items from Alice + Olivia. From a palette of black, white, beige, rose and splashes of floral prints, a day-to-night wardrobe can easily be created. If you haven’t tried Stacey Bendel’s pants and shorts, you must. Tops are cropped this summer, so now might be a good time to sign up for that pilates class! Alice + Olivia is located at 58 Jobs Lane in Southampton. Call 631-204-0164 or visit aliceandolivia.com.
On my way to Main Street, I was swept up by the new Nespresso summer boutique. Through September 22, shoppers strolling down Jobs Lane can take a break to sip and savor Nespresso’s made to order, delicious coffees, espressos, lattes and cappuccinos. While I was there I made mental calculations on just how much I’d save on lattes if I bought one of their sleek espresso machines. You can taste Nespresso’s “Grands Crus,” which are sourced from the top 1-2 percent of the world’s highest-quality coffee. Nespresso is located at 38 Jobs Lane, Southampton. Visit nespresso.com.
Properly fueled, I went across the street to Topiare Flower Shop to pick up a bouquet of flowers for the house. Topiare has a beautiful assortment of fresh cut flowers, potted plants, vases, ceramics and fun vintage signs that say things like “Good Day Sunshine” and “Coopers Beach.” If you ever need a gift in a pinch, just head here. Topiare Flower Shop is located at 51 Jobs Lane in Southampton Call 631-287-3800 or visit topiareflowershop.us.
I couldn’t pass by the new Club Monaco. Welcome to white—white dresses, white pottery, white throws, white shorts, white scarves…the list goes on! Now we know where to head for the next white party! I must say, though, that the prices and styles are great. Club Monaco is in the former Vineyard Vines location (VV has now settled into a permanent location on Jobs Lane), right across the street from Sant Ambroeus. Visit clubmonaco.com.
Speaking of things white, have you seen the new White’s Pharmacy—now White’s Apothecary—in East Hampton? Beauty junkies beware, this is paradise. Under new owners Nyco Chemists, the brightly-lit White’s Apothecary now carries many of the same tried-and-true cosmetics as the old store, including Shiseido, Caudalie and Estée Lauder, and some newbies like Smashbox. They’ll also be offering facials, makeup application and brow tinting and shaping, right inside the store. White’s Apothecary is located at 81 Main Street in East Hampton.
While in East Hampton, be sure to stop by La Perla, the high-end lingerie boutique that also carries beachwear, at 66 Newtown Lane and Orelbar Brown, the designer swimwear pop-up at 23 Newtown Lane. And you certainly can’t miss the new Lisa Perry store, where you’ll be swept away into a vintage pop-world complete with Op Art-inspired tableware created in collaboration with Kelly Behun Studio. Towels and swimwear match Lisa Perry’s clothing line in eye-popping, fun and summery colors. Stop by 67 Main Street, East Hampton and visit lisaperrystyle.com.
