Stop & Shop Gives $2,000 to Family Service League in Riverhead
Stop & Shop has awarded a grant of $2,000 to Family Service League for its Operation Success program in Riverhead.
Family Service League, established in 1926, is a Long Island nonprofit human service organization that provides a safety net for people in need. Serving 50,000 people annually, and addressing some of the most prevalent and pressing human needs challenges facing Long Island communities, Family Service League delivers tangible help and crisis intervention across a spectrum of service areas including mental illness, drug and alcohol abuse, homelessness, job training, computer literacy, trauma counseling, at-risk youth, and family and senior citizen support services.
Family Service League also operates pre-school learning centers, universal pre-K programs, and Suffolk County’s only community school. Overall, Family Service League operates more than 50 programs at 22 locations in Suffolk County, including five Family Centers in Huntington, Huntington Station, Bay Shore, East Yaphank and Riverhead.
Stop & Shop of Riverhead has decided to assist Family Service League and award the organization with a grant of $2,000. The grant was given in support of Family Service League’s Operation Success Summer Extension program, located at their Riverhead Family Center. The Summer Extension program offers academic support and recreation to children in grades K to 4 who are failing or at risk of failing in school. During the school year, these children attend the Operation Success homework help program. The summer extension reinforces their academic skills and keeps their minds active.
