Vehicle Fire Closes Westbound Lane on Sunrise West of Hampton Bays

A stretch of a westbound lane of Sunrise Highway/Route-27 between Hampton Bays and Quogue was closed Thursday night due to a vehicle fire and the subsequent investigation.

The fire, which started at about 9 p.m., fully engulfed the vehicle, which appeared to be an SUV.

Hampton Bays Fire Department extinguished the flames and fire police managed reducing westbound traffic from two lanes to one. New York State police were on scene.
