Firefighters Extinguish Springs House Fire, Cause Under Investigation
A fire of unknown origin engulfed the facade of a small ranch home in Springs on Tuesday, but local firefighters were able to extinguish the blaze before the house was completely lost.
At roughly 5 p.m. on Tuesday, July 1, the Springs Fire Department was called to 52 Cedar Drive for a report of a structure fire. First arriving units reported flames extending up the front of the building and into the roof, but firefighters were able to put out the flames quickly and without incident.
The East Hampton Fire Department’s RIT (Rapid Intervention Team) was called to the scene to stand by, and one engine from the Amagansett Fire Department was called to stand by at the Springs firehouse. All units were back in service within two hours. No one was hurt in the blaze, but the home’s front door, windows and wall were left charred and blackened
The East Hampton Town Fire Marshal’s Office is currently investigating the fire’s cause and origin.
