Samantha Whitlam Awarded Christian Wölffer Scholarship
The James Beard Foundation’s annual Chefs & Champagne event, held at Wölffer Estate Vineyard in Sagaponack, honored chef Bobby Flay and student Samantha Whitlam on July 26.
Whitlam was announced as the recipient of the Christian Wölffer Scholarship.
The Christian Wölffer Scholarship program was established in 2006 by the James Beard Foundation to help fund the study of food and wine for students in need. According to the College Board website, the scholarship is open to students with residency in New York who have an interest in culinary arts, food production, or food science. The $2,000 award is given annually to one student enrolled or planning to enroll in undergraduate studies.
Whitlam is enrolling in the Intensive Sommelier Course at the International Culinary Center.
