Three Historic Hamptons Art Events This Weekend

More that 150 combined years of artistic excellence are on display this weekend in the Hamptons, as a trio of time-honored events bring together artists from all walks of life in East Hampton, Springs and Westhampton Beach. Whether you head to the Clothesline Art Sale at Guild Hall, the 47th Annual Springs Invitational Art Exhibit or the 42nd Annual Mary O. Fritchie Outdoor Juried Fine Art Show in Westhampton Beach (or why not check out all three?), there is a world of wonderful art to explore.

Annual Clothesline Art Sale

Since 1946, Guild Hall has proudly hosted the annual Clothesline Art Sale, a community event that showcases original works by East End artists both inside and out at the famed East Hampton locale. Nearly 400 artists enter the sale each year, with their works in oil, acrylic, watercolor, prints, small sculpture, photography and collage attracting thousands of art lovers looking for the next de Kooning, Prince or Sherman. Works range in price from $50 to $2,000, with all proceeds split evenly between the artist and Guild Hall.

47th Annual Springs Invitational Art Exhibit

The adage that big things can come in small packages is on full display in the selected 125 East End artists, some renowned and some emerging. With the size of the artwork limited to no more than 25 inches, this show has traditionally offered a great way for collectors to purchase smaller works from important artists while also helping a great cause, as 50% of sale proceeds goes to the Springs Improvement Society Scholarship Fund.

42nd Annual Mary O. Fritchie Outdoor Juried Fine Art Show

Now in its fifth decade, the Greater Westhampton Chamber of Commerce Annual Mary O. Fritchie Outdoor Juried Fine Art Show has become known as one of the premiere summer art show on all of eastern Long Island. With more than 140 superb fine artists from both near and far attending this outdoor extravaganza, guests will find oil and acrylic paintings, pastel and watercolor, mixed media, sculptures of wood and metal, photography and other artworks on display.
