Tim Bishop, Lee Zeldin Face Off in Hampton Bays at Debate Monday
Incumbent Congressman Tim Bishop and challenger Lee Zeldin, a New York State senator, will debate Monday in an event sponsored by the Hampton Bays Civic Association.
This is the second match-up for the two politicos. Zeldin, of Shirley, first challenged Bishop in 2008 but was unsuccessful. He has since went on to be elected twice to the New York State Senate. Bishop, of Southampton, was first elected to Congress in 2002.
“If you agree that this year the mid-term elections will play an important role on what happens next in Washington, if you know in your heart that now more than ever before, what happens in Washington directly affects your family’s life-style choices, education, living standards, the food you put on your table and the energy you put in your car, then you will want to see for yourself the men who want your vote this fall,” the civic association stated.
The debate starts at 7 p.m. September 22 at Hampton Bays High School, in the auditorium.
Election Day is November 4.
