PSEG to Trim Trees in Southampton Tuesday, Not Closing Roads
Tree trimmers hired by the electric utility PSEG will be pruning a tree on the westbound side of County Road 39 in Southampton on Tuesday morning, but will not be blocking any traffic, according to PSEG.
The work will begin after 10:30 a.m. on the west end of County Road 39. The tree trimmers will then proceed to trees on North Road, but do not plan to block traffic or close a lane.
“We’re getting significant work done in the Town of Southampton,” PSEG Long Island spokesman Jeffrey Weir said Tuesday. “We need to make sure the system is made more resilient.”
On October 7, commuters were surprised to find that PSEG was partially closing an eastbound lane of County Road 39, causing heavy traffic, backed up from Southampton to Hampton Bays. Tree trimmers also worked in Southampton on October 8, but on side streets.
