Taste North Fork Returns Veterans Day Weekend
Taste North Fork, a tourism promotion that makes it super easy to sample all that Southold and Riverhead have to offer, is returning this Veterans Day weekend, November 8 and 9.
Visitors are encouraged to come via ferry, jitney or ferry. The second annual Taste North Fork will bring back a free shuttle program with stops including the Mattituck railroad station, the Cross Sound Ferry Orient Point Terminal, Tanger Outlets II and Greenport. Three connecting shuttle loops will have pickups and dropoffs from Riverhead to Aquebogue, Aquebogue to Peconic and Peconic-Greenport to Orient.
Wineries and vineyards will offer deals all weekend, such as discounts on bottle and case purchases, discounted tasting flights, and complimentary flights for veterans. Each individual vintner has its own specials, so be sure to ask.
In addition to wine sales and tastings during Taste North Fork, other makers of adult beverages will take part. Greenport Harbor Brewing Co. will offer tours on the hour from noon to 4 p.m. in Peconic. LI Spirits Craft Distillery in Baiting Hollow will hold craft cocktail demonstrations and samplings with LiV Vodka and Rough Rider Bourbon and Rye whiskies.
The Bayview Farm & Market in Aquebogue, Riverhead Farmers Market and Schmitt’s Farmstand on Sound will all be open.
Businesses from cafes and restaurants to boutiques and pet stores in Greenport, Mattituck, Southold and downtown Riverhead will participate, and hotels, B&Bs and inns will offer packages for visitors.
